Ralph Lauren designs 'Fashion Targets Breast Cancer' limited edition shirt to be exclusively sold at Net-A-Porter

WWD reports that Ralph Lauren is designing a line of limited edition pieces in a joint partnership between his own campaign, 'Fashion Targets Breast Cancer' and the Council of Fashion Designers of America/CFDA Foundation Inc. The first of the line, a limited edition shirt, is to be exclusively available at CFDA's new global partner, Net-a-porter.com, in September of this year.

Ralph Lauren is an avid supporter of breast cancer research, and explains that "in 1994, I challenged the fashion community to support Fashion Targets Breast Cancer when it was first getting started. What began as the answer to one woman's request has become a global initiative that has raised millions of dollars for breast cancer charities." His previous philantrophic efforts include the popular Pink Pony collection, which raises funds for "for cancer care and prevention." Looks hot - can't wait! In my opinion, designers embracing charity is far more newsworthy than celebs embracing design!

Bohemian styling took centre stage with Paisley, fringing and flared jeans all making a comeback. Burnt oranges, copper reds, leaf green and sunset yellow combined into bold prints let Autumn shine.

Fringes were everywhere, on accessories and clothing and layered tunic dresses were pulled in with skinny belts.

Black is back

Black made yet another comeback for Autumn/Winter. Designers took inspiration from Gothic romance with eyeliner and layers upon layers of black lace, maxi length skirts, ruffles and leather clad lovelies. Givenchy's Riccardo Tisci took his inspiration from catholic imagery accumulating in a collection strung with chains galore, reminiscent of Mr.T's stylings.

Tomato red was a prominent colour choice amongst designers, from full outfits to standout accessories. Paired with black, this once brash colour has made its way into the power dressing ranks with Ralph Lauren using it for a simple skirt suit and red blouses being a common feature between Moschino cheap & chic and Oscar de la Renta.

A balancing act between deep darks, neutrals and intense colours.

FABRICS

1.Traditional. Coloured flannels, reefer broadcloths,

flecked and muted tweeds, micro patterns and woolly mock plains.

2.Casual clean. Dense and clean denims, thick cotton sateens,

cosy-back twills. Basic fleeces and compact jerseys.

3.Daily shine. Glazed nylons, plasticized, varnished cloths, oilcloth and vinyl.
